July School Holidays

What are you going to do in the holidays?
What would you like to do?
Are you going overseas?  If so where?
Don't forget to put your name at the end.

I'll be going up to my Mum & Dad's for a couple of days.  This means that I will be helping my Dad around the property. Gardening, weeding, mowing the feijoa paddock and orchard. The photo below is of me mowing the paddock before Christmas.
I'll also be coming into school to get things ready for term 3.  What a busy term it will be!

My Exciting Weekend - By Slithering Sam

I have gone away for the weekend. I went on a big plane. They had delicious sushi and licorice allsorts on it too. I have seen a really big building that was designed by a man named Jorn Utzon and was opened by Queen Elizabeth on the 20th of October 1973. I also went across a structure that was opened on the 19 of March 1932. The local people call it 'The Coat Hanger.' Can you guess where I am for Queens Birthday weekend? I can't wait to see you all on Tuesday so I can tell you all about my travels.
Love from

Room 19's Awesome Assembly

Our current topic, as you are aware, is The Solar System and systems within that system. The assembly item reflected some of this learning.
Our first song is '12 Months' and the second song is '4 Seasons'.  The children choreographed the moves themselves.
For those of you who were unable to make it to the assembly, it will give you an idea of how well your children performed. OUTSTANDING!

Please feel free to leave a comment below ;-)

Halley's Comet - A real life maths problem!

Halley’s Comet was last seen in 1985. It will be in our skies again in 2062. Aiden’s dad saw it when he was 12. How old is Aiden’s dad now? Don’t forget to show your name and your working – just like we do in class!

Mrs Chambers Graduates - The Best Part of My Holiday!

In the holidays I graduated with a Bachelor of Education. It was an exciting day. The first thing I did was to pick up my gown, trencher and hood. I drove home very excited as I was eager to put on my 'costume' to show Bradley and Sacha. We had lunch with my Mum & Dad and Mr Chambers' Mum and Dad. Mrs Kilkolly arrived with her 2 kids, James & Neve. They gave me a big bunch of flowers that smelt divine. After lunch it was time to drive into Takapuna. I had to wait at the start of the march. I waited with Mr van Buesekom's sister, Marianne. I met her during my first paper. All of a sudden we could hear bagpipes being played and we started to walk all along the shops of Takapuna. We got to walk on the road! When we got into the hall we went upstairs while our families were arriving and finding their seats. It seemed like we waited for HOURS. Finally we got to walk into the theatre. Once again the bagpipes were playing, piping us to our seats. After a few speeches it was my turn to get 'capped'. The Chancellor (boss of the University) held a trencher over my head and then it was official! I had a Bachelor of Education. When the ceremony had finished I met my family in the foyer where we had some photos taken. Then we all went to Bolero and had a celebration with some of my friends and family. I had such a great day. I can't wait to hear about the best part of your holidays.
