From the 27th of July until the 8th of August New Zealand athletes will be participating in a variety of sports to try and win a gold, silver or bronze medal.

The modern Olympic Games began in 1896. America has hosted the modern Olympics eight times and Australia twice. No Olympics were held in 1916, 1940 or 1944 because of war. The winter Olymics began in 1924 , originally in the same year as the summer competition but are now held on diffrent years. This year,2012,the 30th Olympic Games will be in London. The Olympic Games have changed over time and are regulated by the international Olympic Committee. Almost every sport from archery to yaching has featured in the games and it continuesto be the world's largest sports event.

Handball is played 7 players each team.

At the last Olympics in Beijing New Zealand won 9 medals. (3 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze) At the Olympics in London 2012 there will be 184 people competing for New Zealand. My favourite Olympic sport would be swimming. 950 competitors will compete in 34 swimming events at the Olympics. By Jacob

korea, China and Italy are the top three contries that are competing in archery.
ReplyDeleteKorea has won 3 gold and 1 bronze, China has won 1 silver and 1 bronze and last of all Italy has won only 1 gold.
I think korea is the number 1 of archery.
